2019 Arts Day and Governor's Award for the Arts Recap
We want to give a big thank you to the hundreds of arts advocates and arts supporters from across the state who joined us for Arts Day and the 2019 Governor's Awards for the Arts Luncheon! We are grateful for all the members of the Ohio General Assembly who joined us for the luncheon, especially Senate President Larry Obhof and Speaker Larry Householder for presenting the Governor's Awards! Arts Day 2019 kicked off with an energetic performance by Transit Arts who helped prepare advocates for meetings with legislators before the Governor's Awards for the Arts Luncheon. We are especially proud and grateful for students from Sheridan High School, Lima Senior High School, Eastwood High School, and Pickerington High School, who were selected as this year's Student Advocate program. Student advocates met with their legislators to share their personal stories and delivered informational packets as well as this year's Arts Day Book, "Speak a Powerful Magic" by Wick Poetry Center Director David Hassler, who also hosted an engaging writing workshop following the luncheon.
We are riding the momentum of this year's Arts Day as we continue to advocate for increased funding for the Ohio Arts Council. Thank you again to all of those who attended, and we hope to see you next year!
